There are many great materials on the market from which you can make clothing. Some look better than others, but they may be uncomfortable. It is up to a woman if she wants to go for looks or feel, or if she only wants things that are easy to care for. This might be the reason why there are so many different materials and styles out there. Everyone has different needs. When you are looking for something that looks really good and feels really good on the skin, you may want to go for a satin skirt.
The only downfall of satin is that it is not quite as easy to care for as other types of material. It is something like silk in that you cant really just throw it in the washing machine when you wish to have it cleaned. Some can be done at home in the gentle cycle, and others might need to be taken to the dry cleaners. If you dont mind the extra care instructions, and you want something that will feel really good against your skin, the satin skirt is definitely the way to go. In many ways this is like silk, but is a bit more durable.
When you buy a satin skirt, you may want to find summery styles for your wardrobe. Satin is a great material, but it can be rather thin and will not hold heat in as well as cotton or even wool. If you spend time outdoors in the winter for work, or on your way to and from work, you may want to save your satin skirts for the warmer months of the spring, summer, and fall. You may not even find satin on the shelves in the winter for this very reason. As great looking as it is, it wont do much to keep you warm.
On the flip side, many types of satin skirt are great for the summer. When you want something that looks good and will feel good on your body, you can wear this material without having to worry about overheating as much as with other materials. If for some reason something happens to your skirt, you will find that they are rather affordable to replace, and you can always find something that looks great. Satin skirts tend to look good for work, parties, and even casual events. Have a few great ones in your closet. I guarantee youll find the perfect times to wear them.

There are many people that believe that everyone has a
There are many people that believe that everyone has a soul or a spirit that lives on in some type of dimension once the body has died. The believes vary from culture to culture and from person to person within that culture but there seems to be a common thread that some part of us goes on after death. My beliefs are complicated and have evolved throughout my life time. I believe in some sort of life after death and I believe that parts of our spirits can be reborn and attached to others that come after us.
I know this sounds very strange but my grandmothers spirit seems to have been reborn in my daughter. The two of them never met, yet my daughter has so many of the same characteristics that it is uncanny. The physical resemblance is remarkable. And there are also many of the same mannerisms. Anyone that knew my grandmother remarks on the similarities when they meet my daughter. It seems only fitting that my daughter should have the sapphire engagement rings that my grandmother left to me.
My grandmother was quite a woman. She came to this country as a young girl. She was very attractive and as a result won the hearts of many different young men. She used to love to tell the story about having four engagement rings at one time. Two of them were sapphire engagement rings and one was a ruby and one was a diamond. She would laugh that of course it was my grandfather that gave her the diamond. She wore that diamond everyday until her death, but she also kept the sapphire engagement rings on a necklace that she wore under her clothing. The sapphire engagement rings are beautiful. One is a lighter very clear stone and the other on is darker. As with most antique jewelry the settings are beautifully crafted and the stones are of high quality. My grandmother had very blue eyes, I am sure that is what prompted her two suitors to buy sapphires.
My daughter has heard many stories about her great grandmother through the years. She has seen photographs of her and agrees that they do look alike. My father would comment on this every time he saw my daughter. He would walk into a room and say that he felt like he was looking at his mother. I hope the genes and the rings will guide my daughter to be as loving and caring as my grandmother was. I think this will happen because of the piece of my grandmothers spirit that lives within her.

San Francisco weather: the best in America?
Having lived all over America, this native of San Francisco makes the bold claim that San Francisco weather is the jewel of American climates. Although I know that there are those who love the hot, broiling desert summers, the bone-chilling winters of Minnesota and the wilting humidity of the Southern states, three generations of my family have loved the even, pleasant, indeed blessed, San Francisco weather. Let me see if I cannot convince you too.
Besides the diversity of culture to be found, the multitude of parks, museums, theatre, fabulous dining and other entertainments, I'd probably love San Francisco simply for the climate.
There's no need for multiple wardrobes for every horrific seasonal change, snow shovels or mosquito repellent by the gallon. True, you'll need a coat for winter rains, but this coat has year-round purpose, just as useful on a chilly evening in any season. In winter, umbrellas are necessary items, but are rarely blown inside out and ruined by nasty gale winds. San Francisco weather boasts early springs, with winter rains abating, for the most part, in February.
February and March bring all the flowering trees into bloom, making a delightful occasion for a visit to Golden Gate Park. Azaleas and rhododendrons are abundant, with spectacular flower beds surrounding the Conservatory. Cool weather prevails, but usually all that's required to ward off the chill is a light windbreaker.
From April through August, San Francisco weather is best described as temperate. Nice days are the norm, with temperatures averaging between 65( and 72(.
Come September, you may experience the worst San Francisco weather has to offer. This consists of perhaps a few days or a week at the most of a hot spell, when the temperature may soar to 90( in its Indian summer stage. Everyone hangs out of their open windows, complaining loudly of this heat and waiting for it to end, amid great sighs of relief.
Another lovely feature of San Francisco weather are the differences by neighborhood. If you love fog, move to the Richmond or Sunset districts, or better yet out by the beach. For the greatest number of sunny days per year, settle in the Noe Valley or Mission districts. Pacific Heights offers a mix, tending towards sunny weather where you can look down towards the Bay and simply watch the fog roll in every evening.
Although the Financial district and downtown typically sport sunny skies, the tall buildings make for brisk breezes with a bit of a chill.
For those who like to see the change of seasons with falling leaves, San Francisco obliges, with a smattering of deciduous trees to be found in every neighborhood and all over Golden Gate Park.
If you haven't visited San Francisco, any time is a good time for pleasant weather - just try not to hit those scorching early September days.
Road trips
Going on road trips with my husband is horribly painful. Any destination that is more than one hour away from our starting point is just unbearable. He starts to fidget, whine, complain and then whines some more. What does he complain and whine about? You name it, he brings it up. The directions arent right or they dont make sense. Whyd we have to plan this trip? Whos idea was this? Usually, the destination was his choice in the first place. However, when embarking on road trips while sitting next to him, it isnt the best time to mention that hes the one who wanted to go in the first place. I try to keep my mouth shut as best as possible. It isnt always easy.
I remember road trips with my parents when I was younger. Wed drive, straight through, from Pennsylvania to Florida and everyone maintained a good mood the entire way. My mother was always more than prepared for our road trips, keeping my brother and I entertained when we needed to be. She encouraged us to take naps quite often too. Road trips were times of bonding and being a family. I loved them.
Now, Im married and have grown to hate road trips. Perhaps if I went someplace without my husband it simply wouldnt be painful. The older that Ive gotten, however, I find that I just cant sit as still for hours that I used to be able to do. I want to stop much more frequently. Two years ago, my husband and I were driving to Cape Cod, a seven hour drive, and not making as good of time as he would have liked. I made the mistake of mentioning that I needed to use a bathroom, which really threw him off into a tangent. I sat as still and quiet as I could for the next hour until I absolutely couldnt hold it any longer. He finally pulled over, but grumbled the rest of the way about it. I drink as little as possible during road trips now. I can only imagine when our daughter is out of diapers and having to go to the bathroom next year. Hell be insane.
I admire my mother for always having been prepared. When we were bored, shed pull out magazines and coloring books that were brand new to us. She played all sorts of card games and car games with us. Shed make up silly songs and stories to keep us from getting too bored. She always had a snack and a drink nearby for us as well. To all mothers out there, be sure to always be prepared during road trips. Have entertainment, snacks and drinks all within reach so that you can get to them as quickly as possible. And if road trips with spouses are a bit too much to handle, dont drink too much and sit as still as possible. Maybe itll work for you.
When I was a kid, going to the circus was
When I was a kid, going to the circus was a tradition among our family. It was one of our favorite things to do. In most families, the parents amuse the children by taking them to the circus, but in our family things were different. You see, my parents had both been circus performers when they were younger. My mom had been a trapeze artist, and my dad had been a juggler, clown, and mime. As a matter of fact, they were involved in a circus arts group, and still occasionally did charity events in the community.
Every time the circus would come to town, we would go see it. We bought Ringling Brothers Circus tickets whenever we had a chance. Although there are more cutting-edge circuses than Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey, there aren't any ones that are more classic. To many families across America and the world, buying Ringling Bros Circus tickets is the only way to go to the circus. They go all over the place, to both big and small towns. Long before Cirque du Soleil and other new, artsy circuses, they were already putting on a great show.
Back then, we would not get just any Ringling Brothers Circus tickets. My father and mother both have connections in the circus community, and we could get exclusive tickets. Even if the show was sold out, they could usually get Ringling Brothers Circus tickets for one of the best seats in the house. It depended on where we were going. If we were seeing them downtown, we would want to be near the front row. If we were seeing them in a smaller place, however, sometimes it was better to be up in the balcony. It really depended on the venue, but every time my dad and mom would manage to get us the best Ringling Brothers Circus tickets. It was pretty uncanny.
Back then, Ringling Brothers Circus tickets were pretty spendy. Nowadays, however, it appears that they have fallen on hard times. Last time I went and bought a Ringling Brothers circus ticket, it was cheaper than it had been several years ago. They even had free passes for taking your kids along. I think that next time the circus comes to town, that is exactly what I will do. The kids are just getting to the age when they will appreciate it, and I know they will love it as much as I did.

Children like to copy grown ups and driving is one
Children like to copy grown ups and driving is one of their favorite things to imitate. Ride on toys are a means of playing in a fantasy world and the many different vehicles allow kids to role play. They also give them a feeling of independence. Some of these toys get up to surprising speeds and good makes are designed to be durable.
The method of propulsion is either pedal power or electric cars. Pedal cars use push pedals or rotary pedals with a chain, similar to bicycles. The rotary method enables the car to go faster than push pedals. Electric cars usually come in 6, 12 or 24 volt versions. 6V is suitable for the under-5s and can go on hard flat surfaces, powering the ride on toys at walking pace. 12v can also travel over grass or gravel and will go around 5mph or jogging speed. 24v cars are more suited to older children and can go up to 15mph.
There is a vehicle to suit every personality, including stylish sports cars, based on models such as Ferrari, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo and BMW. Character cars are also race cars, including Lightning McQueen. Other models include Formula 1 cars from the Grand Prix circuit. There is also a choice of go karts and quad bikes. Motorbikes come in well known makes like Ducatti and there is also aVespa scooter.
These aren't just toys for the boys and they are popular with girls, who have their own pink cars, scooters and bikes from Barbie and Princess. The selection of jeeps also includes pink models.
Nostalgia can often persuade parents to buy classic ride on toys and models like the Model T Roadster are very stylish. There is also a range of retro racing cars and hot rods. Kids can imagine they are taking to the skies in a Corsair pedal plane or pretend they're barnstorming in the Red Baron pedal plane. Fire engines can be retro too. All these vehicles can be topped off with accessories, such as play helmets or electronic steering wheels. Winter fun is guaranteed with ski bobs and snowmobils.
The world of work can be great fun for creative play. It's easy to be a construction worker with a Caterpillar Dump Truck or a digger. Tractors come with front loaders or trailers and can pull haywagons or water tankers. Kids can load up the trailer with a pile of plastic logs and they become an instant lumberjack with their ride on toys.

All of us go through many changes in our lives.
All of us go through many changes in our lives. Some of them are changes that make us happy and improve our way of life. Other changes may make us sad with grief and loss and bring about depression and sorrow. No matter how we live our lives we cannot avoid the fact that things change and we need to cope and deal with the changes to continue in our life journey. How we deal with change and make adjustments for it determines for happy we are.
My girl friend recently was divorced. This has been a difficult time for her. She knows that the divorce is the best thing for her and her husband, but she is also grieving the losses that ending her marriage relationship has brought about. She asked me if I would be willing to spend some of my vacation time to go on a trip with her. She wanted to take some time to get away and relax. We have taken other vacations together and have found that we travel easily together. We decided that for this trip we would look into a resort and spa. My friend loves to drive and she did not want the hassle of flying, especially since all of her new identification from her recent name change was not yet available. We contacted our travel agent and asked her to find a resort and spa that would be within a six hour drive from our area. We thought six hours would be enough distance to give up a change of scenery and close enough to make the trip bearable.
The travel agent came up with several resort and spa locations. Some were in a retreat type setting that included groups and seminars. Although some of the topics sounded quite interesting, we were not looking for this type of vacation. Some of the other offerings were more geared towards families. We both enjoy children, but we did not want to be in a family centered spot. There was another list that concentrated on weight-loss, but this did not fit our needs either. She finally located a resort and spa that was located seven hours from us. It was in a beautiful recreation area and also close to a large American Indian casino. There were several restaurants in the area as well as shopping and night life. This seemed like the perfect destination. The spa featured mud baths, pedicures, manicures, body wraps and many message options. The resort featured a large swimming pool, tennis courts rental bikes and trails to ride them on as well as nightly entertainment and three restaurant choices. This was a great trip for both of us. We had our travel time to talk, we had alone time to relax during our spa treatments and we had fun gambling and dancing in the evenings. We agreed that this is a trip we will repeat in the years to come.

Saving With Rental Car Coupon Codes
As a seasoned traveler, I thought I knew all the tips and tricks for booking the cheapest vacations around. For example, I always purchase airfare and make hotel reservations online because I can get excellent discounts on these purchases from travel-related websites. I'm also usually able to find coupons and other discounts for museums, theme parks, restaurants, nightclubs, and similar activities or attractions in my chosen destination.
In fact, during the last few years, my vehicle rentals were the only things I ever paid full price for. That's because most of the rental car coupon codes I found at that time applied only to compact cars -- and I'm simply not comfortable driving those tiny things.
In addition, there were very few rental car coupon codes for the national chains, which meant that if I wanted to take advantage of any discounts, I'd have to go to some tiny hole-in-the-wall shop in an inconvenient location. I've come to rely on the airport pick-up service offered by the national chains, so once again I was out of luck as far as cashing in on rental car coupon codes went.
Fortunately, it looks like the tide has finally turned, as I've recently noticed a bunch of rental car coupon codes that can be used for the roomier vehicles that I like so much. What's more, these coupons are valid at all of the national chains that I prefer, so I've finally been able to enjoy some of these terrific discounts.
Just what kind of rental car coupon codes are available? I've seen a wide variety of promotions, ranging from free upgrades to discounted rates for daily, weekend, or weekly rentals. I've even noticed some rental car coupon codes that give discounts on collision or liability insurance, should I choose to purchase that type of protection. With the cost of vehicle rentals continuing to rise, these savings can really make a difference in my vacation budget, so I now use coupons every time I rent.
Incidentally, it's very easy to use rental car coupon codes. To find them, simply enter relevant keywords in your favorite search engine, and then visit some of the websites listed in the results. On those sites, simply look for a discount that you're interested in (for example, 20% off the weekly rate), write down the code, and then use the code when you make your reservation. The discount will be applied to your total bill, and the savings will stay right in your wallet.
Try a few rental car coupon codes out for yourself the next time you travel. Every little bit helps!
Remedies For Gas
Perhaps one of the most embarrassing things that can happen to you when youre on a date is to have an attack of gas. Even though this may not be a problem if you get to know someone, the first few times it happens in front of someone new many people wish they could crawl into the woodwork after it happens. There are many remedies for gas that can help you with this problem, but probably the best remedy is prevention. As the years go by, you have probably already begun to figure out what gives you gas, and what foods are safe to eat.
Sometimes remedies for gas are more important than just trying to be presentable in front of another person. Sometimes if gas gets caught within your system to can be quite painful. There are special remedies for gas that are made just for this purpose. I know that it is not something that is easy to talk about, but you can go to the store to buy something just for this. When this happened to my husband a few weeks ago, he was too embarrassed to go to store himself. I went out and bought the medication for him, and within 24 hours he was right as rain.
There are also remedies for gas stop the problem before it begins. Some people like to take Bean-o to prevent gas before begins. Many people who love to eat vegetables like broccoli, or other vegetables that are known to cause gas, like to eat Bean-o before they eat. This will stop the gas from forming. Though these remedies for gas dont always work completely, they will offer you some relief. If you know youre going to have a meal high in gas producing foods, you may want to try to take this before you eat.
The best remedies for gas are ones that are completely preventative. If you know that broccoli or baked beans will give you gas, do not eat these within a day or two of a special event. I know that when I drink a lot of soda I have problems for days afterwards. This is why you will rarely catch me drinking soda, and that is one of the many reasons why I have switched to coffee. If you want to use this type of remedies for gas, make note of what you had to eat when you feel an attack of gas coming on. The longer you pay attention to what you are eating and what it does to your body, the easier it will become for you to avoid the foods that cause gas.
We all want to believe in something. Isn't that the
We all want to believe in something. Isn't that the truth? I don't care where you come from or where you've been, how you were raised, or how old you are, you want to believe that there is something great out there. This is only natural. Human beings aren't immortal by any means, and they do grow old and pass on. There are no two ways about it. This is why so many people choose to follow a faith and believe in a higher power. It's a security blanket of sorts. Trusting that there's something better after this physical life is extinguished keeps us motivated and happy. It doesn't take a religious article or trip to church to see that.
It's funny how the human mind works. Take my mother in-law for example. The woman has never been religious, nor has she ever even resembled someone who's religious. As far as I knew, she had no faith in a deity at all. Then one bright and shiny day she read a religious article online, and POOF. Suddenly she had faith and believed in a higher order of things. Now, some may say that this is because she saw the "light," but I think it's related to the fact that she's now over 60 and feeling uneasy about death. As our time runs low here, we want to believe more than ever. You wouldn't believe how many people suddenly get faith or take-up a religion in their golden years. It's like all of the sudden they want some almighty being to accept them and care for them after death. Actually, that's exactly what it is. I suppose a random religious article or encounter with a religious individual could have a powerful effect on an older individual or someone approaching death's door.
Does the branch of religion matter? This is an excellent question that I've pondered most of my life. I truly think that believing in God is believing in God. Just because a biased religious article tells you that Catholic is the only way to heaven doesn't make it so. Remember, these are all subjective pieces written by men and women. No God ever wrote a religious article on how Muslim is the only true religion. You have to choose your own beliefs and trust what you feel is right. Humans need to stop following the leader.

One thing I hope my daughter does when she is old enough to do so is to register to vote. Though registering does not mean someone will vote, it is a great step in the right direction. I would hope that more and more people get fed up with what is going on with our government and register. When I was younger I didnt care enough to vote, but now it is something that I very strongly believe everyone should do. Though there is no way to make someone vote, you can encourage them to register to vote so that if they feel the urge, they can run out and vote.
There are a lot of people who are complaining about our government, but they have not taken the time to register to vote let alone taking the time to actually vote in elections. When I was young, my mother always told me to quit complaining about things and to get up to do something about them. I grew up believing that if you dont try to change a situation you have no right to complain. You might fail, but at least you tried. Yes, there are things you may not be able to do, but voting is something anyone of voting age can do. There are exceptions, but the majority can vote.
There are many serious issues going on right now, and there are more and more people sitting up and taking notice. I can almost understand that some do not register to vote because they are fine with how things are going. This is rapidly changing through, and the war in Iraq is one of the biggest reasons. What was supposed to be a short invasion has turned into somewhat of a quagmire. This issue is making more and more people take notice of what is going on, and I hope this is encouraging them to go out and register to vote so that they might have a say in who leads our country.
Not everyone who registers will vote, but it is a great step towards getting more people out to vote. The problem still lies within the youngest generation. Though there are some that are passionate about voting and making their voice heard, there are many others that are completely apathetic. There are many programs to encourage the youngest generation to vote, and they do seem to be working some, but we have a long way to go.
Redondo Beach California.
The living is easy in the laid back South Bay area of California. There are three so called Beach Cities; Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and the most famous of all, Redondo Beach California. Residents and visitors alike, love the wide beaches, the almost 300 days of recorded sunshine every year and the lifestyle devoted to sports and leisure. The population has grown to over 60,000 people.
One of the main tourist attractions is the distinctive Pier, said to be one of the longest in the country. It is also popular with sports anglers and people interested in the history of the structure. The original pier was constructed in 1914 but went through much re-building as a result of being burned down and storm damage. The present pier was completed in 1996.
There is plenty to do in the city and downtown is the place to go for the shops, restaurants and wine tasting galleries. The Marina, Harbor and Pier area also has shopping facilities, restaurants and bars and an arcade. Dining in Redondo Beach California includes American and Mexican restaurants, in addition to Italian, French, Asian and Middle Eastern.
The area is very popular with surfers, who are able to surf all the year round here and look forward to the winter months when the waves can become incredibly high. Other water sports, including sailing and kayaking, are followed too and beach volleyball is a big part of the scene with professional competitions being held in the area. There are numerous city parks where sports can be played like tennis, racquetball and basketball. The Strand is a paved pathway that becomes very busy with skateboarders, rollerbladers, cyclists and people out for a gentle stroll. It runs from South Redondo up until Santa Monica.
Marine life is abundant here and the SEA Marine Research Laboratory organizes public tours, to educate people about the different species in the area. Whale Watching excursions are also popular from Redondo Beach California. For lovers of history, there is the Redondo Beach Historical Museum, which displays artifacts and photographic memorabilia in a charming, Victorian house from the beginning of the 20th century.
The area has been captured in song and on television and movies, forever associated with the Californian cultural image. Patti Smith and the Beach Boys have both immortalized Redondo Beach California in song and the beachfront and pier has been a frequent location for The OC hit show. It has also featured in the TV series, Riptide and the movie, The Hot Chick.
Recipes For Turkey
Most people have a turkey on Thanksgiving, and then they never look at turkey again for the rest of the year. I am not one of these people. I generally have turkey on Thanksgiving, and then have another sometime in the spring. No matter how well I plan, I always end up with more turkey that I know what to do it. I get a bird that is much bigger than what we need, and the leftovers seem to be overwhelming. Perhaps this is why most of us only have a turkey once or twice a year. Knowing what to do with the turkey afterwards can be tricky, but all you need are a few good recipes for turkey.
You might be surprised at the number of recipes for turkey there are out there. If you search through some of the cooking web sites on the Internet, you are going to find a lot of great ideas. The problem is that many times after we have had a large turkey dinner we dont want to look at turkey anymore. You have to freeze some of your turkey meat, and then set aside some recipes for turkey to use in a couple of weeks. You might also want to find out how to safely freeze turkey, and how long that turkey will be good.
When it comes to recipes for turkey in my house, there are just a couple simple ones that I use. My husband absolutely loves cold turkey sandwiches. There are two different recipes for turkey sandwiches that I use. One is so simple that my five-year-old can do it. All you need is two pieces of bread, a layer of mayonnaise, and some turkey. You put it together in a sandwich with a little salt, and you have a great meal. You may also make turkey salad much like you would make chicken salad. This is something that my husband handles, so I really couldnt tell you how to make it.
One of the other recipes for turkey I use is one to make turkey and biscuits. This is much like chicken and biscuits, but you use turkey instead a chicken. There are many other great recipes for turkey out there, all you have to do is look. What you want to make will depend on your cooking skill, and how much time youre willing to put into the endeavor. Remember that you dont have to use all of your turkey up right away, as it is safe to freeze turkey for a period of time. As long as you can do so safely, you have some great turkey ideas for months after youve cooked the actual turkey.
It's spring time folks! You know what this means. It's
It's spring time folks! You know what this means. It's time to start buying houses. Or at least that's what statistics show. Most people in the market for a new home will purchase it in the spring. Makes sense I suppose. That's the season when everything is blooming and green. It's easier to have great curb appeal in the spring than it is in the winter time. Obviously real estate agents get stoked about the spring months because this is when real estate sales are through the roof. Now, the question is, are you currently buying or selling? Either way there are a few things you should know about.
For all of you home buyers out there, you're vastly in luck. Currently we're stuck in a buyer's market. This basically means that the interest rates are in your favor and there is an ample amount of homes for sale. What does this mean for you? Well it means that you can likely find a stellar house at a wonderfully low price. Maybe you can afford something that would have surely been out of your price range. Even if you intend to sell the house in a few years, this is a great advantage. You'll surely make a hefty profit when real estate sales return to their norm. So get that house you're pondering NOW. You won't soon encounter a better time to buy. Get online and take a look at what's in your area.
There are plenty of your sellers out there. Trust me; I know the routine quite well at this point. I've sold two homes already and I'm only 31 years old. It can be a hassle. And if you're selling yours right now, it likely will be a hassle. As you already know, the competition is fierce. All the little things will make a difference for you. Think about fixing up anything that needs it. Replace junky old appliances. Clean the house from top to bottom on a regular basis. And don't forget about curb appeal. This actually plays a valid role in real estate sales. Everyone with a family wants a decent yard. They want trees, flowers, and rich green grass to play in. So be certain to makes these changes before you slap that home up on the market with the rest.

Several years ago my husband and I were fortunate enough
Several years ago my husband and I were fortunate enough to find a lake home that we can live in year round. The house is located within a thirty minute commute for my husband and I was able to relocate to a job that is only ten minutes from the house. This has been wonderful because it is allowing us to live our retirement dream while we are still working. Every weekend we can take advantage of lake living without packing the car and driving to a cabin or campgrounds. Now we are still thinking about our retirement years and deciding if we want to relocate.
The lake shore properties are moving very quickly. Our present home is multi-level so we are not sure how we will be able to navigate the steps when we are older. We decided we would talk with different real estate companies in the various lakes areas and see what kind of trends they are seeing regarding development and land availability. We are not ready to act right now so we do not want to sign with one realtor. We decided that we would just spend a day here and there stopping at different real estate companies and seeing what they had to offer and what advise they would give us regarding how long to wait. On our various trips we would go through small communities that were close to different lake areas. We would stop and have coffee at local cafes and talk to people about the different real estate companies in the area. Most times there would be a relative of a local realtor in the caf. On our way home we would stop and have a drink at a local bar. We found that you can get a great deal of advice from small town bartenders on just about everything including real estate companies.
So far in our travels we have located two communities that we think would be quite pleasant to retire in. We have decided that once we are retired it will not really matter how far we are from any particular area because we will not have to worry about commuting. We have moved often enough to know that we make friends quite easily and we join quite well with various church communities. We may decide to buy lake property now so that we will have it to build on in the future. If we should change our minds on the location we know we will be able to sell the property for a profit. Lake shore properties are going up annually and so there is no way we will lose money on this sort of land deal.

I'm about to tell you a story. It's about a
I'm about to tell you a story. It's about a woman I know and a spooky night at her office building. It happened last spring and it goes like this. Tammy was finishing up with some last minute paper work. She shoved her personal belongings into a shoulder bag with her laptop, snatched her purse from her desk and head out. Up the elevator she went, to the top of a parking garage. She always had to park up top because it was all that was left when she arrived each day. The elevator chimed and she stepped off. The sun was falling in the background as she proceeded toward her car. There were plenty of other vehicles parked about, but no people in sight. That's when she spotted a strange man. He was standing near a van in a far corner, and appeared to be watching her. She proceeded with haste to her car. As she pulled out a set of keys from her purse, she noticed the man moving toward her out of the corner of her eye. This is when she stopped. She turned and stared at the man for a moment to let him know she knew. Now the man paused. Tammy hit the self start button on her keypad and resumed her stride, reaching the car. The man then retreated. She entered her car and drove off with a great sigh of relief.
Tammy's story is a great one because it's minor in a way, but real as ever. She didn't scream at the top of her lungs, pull out a gun or set off a raging Python alarm, but she did make an intrepid gesture. She stood her ground and sent a message to a potential attacker. The message said I'm aware of your presence and I'm not frightened. Typically assailants don't like this attitude and awareness. They go for the meek ones who scare easily. Now, let's talk about alarms. Personal alarms or a Python alarm for your car; both can be effective. In fact, Tammy had a Python alarm installed in her Pacifica not long after that. She wants to be sure no one can sneak inside when she at work. That would be an awful surprise. But a Python alarm is also good for other things like causing a ruckus when you feel threatened. There's nothing like a loud screaming alarm system to draw some attention. This is where personal alarms can come in handy as well.
Take advantage of these devices! Have a Python alarm system installed in your vehicle for a little extra security. And don't be afraid to make eye contact with someone if they're following you. Let your presence be known and keep your head high.

Business promotional ideas have to be innovative to have a profound impact on the recipients. Thoughtful tokens are some of the most popular choices among the many concepts that have graced the world of business. Choosing the right products for your organization will take a little consideration.
The first consideration in the vast world of promotional ideas is the nature of your business. You want to choose items that really reflect your companys attitude and overall philosophy. If the promotional items are well chosen, the recipient will think of your organization each time he uses the product.
Consider promotional ideas that have some type of symbolic meaning. For example, if you run a company that is well known for its outstanding strategies, then you want to choose promotional items that reflect an element of strategy as well. A nice choice would be a chess set.
This item comes in a number of different designs and a good company that offers promotional items will personalize the chess set for you. These attractive promotional ideas are wonderful for an office or a game room. The recipient will think of your valuable services each time he looks at the chess set.
Perhaps you want to appeal to an individual (or group of individuals) who do a lot of traveling. Why not choose a World Traveler Set for this population? This is among one of the most popular promotional ideas that companies use. The appeal of the travel set is two fold. The recipients use the product while traveling on business and on vacation, too.
A good travelers set will include a calculator and a clock. The clock should tell time in a number of international cities. Another nice feature found in these promotional ideas is a miniature reading flashlight that comes in very handy while on business trips. Wrap it up in an attractive carrying case and you have a wonderful token that the traveler will love.
While many companies are well known for their outstanding strategic genius and others are well known for making an impact across the globe, other companies may be better represented with something a little more traditional. Any promotional ideas that represent time are well received as classic business tokens.
Some of the most popular choices for promotional ideas that represent time are watches. These items are a certain hit among the recipients for good reason. They go everywhere and they serve a purpose. A well-crafted watch is one of the best investments a company can make for its promotional efforts.
There are many other promotional ideas to consider. The first consideration is your company. The rest should fall into place.

Privacy Trees
The house I grew up in had a privacy fence that reached all around the perimeter. In some ways I really liked it. I liked the feeling of being sheltered from the neighbors and the outside world. It made both the backyard and the front yard seem so much more serene. There were, however, things that I really didn't like about it. Privacy fences seem a little bit too overt for me. I know it is a matter of personal taste, but even at the time I felt a little too closed off. When I moved into my own house, I wanted something that did the same job, but did it more subtlety. That is when I discovered privacy trees.
A lot of people like privacy shrubs and trees. Unless you need a security fence or some other safety device, a privacy tree can do everything that a man-made structure can do. It doesn't make it impossible to enter your yard, but it does screen it from outside view and make it clear that no one is supposed to come in. It also gives you a feeling of privacy. For most cases, this is enough. Usually, unless your yard is wide open and welcoming, people won't wander in.
Best of all, privacy trees provide a much nicer backdrop than fences do. Don't get me wrong you can get a nice looking privacy fence. You can make them out of stone, wood, or any other material you might fancy. Stucco fences can be beautiful particularly with potted plants sitting on top of them. Nonetheless, nothing beats having natural trees. They muffle sound more, they have a beautiful look to them, and they rustle gently in the breeze. There's no better way to help you forget the world and relax than to have a thick barrier of privacy trees between you and everyone else.
There are a lot of different kinds of privacy trees, but most of them are evergreens. Evergreens have a lot of advantages. First of all, they are hearty enough to live almost anywhere. Second of all, they stay green all winter long definitely an advantage. Deciduous trees lose their leaves, cutting down on the privacy protection that they provide during the winter. Evergreens, on the other hand, get even thicker during the winter with a nice coating of snow glazing them. Although heavy snow falls can sometimes tear down branches, this is the exception more than the rule. In general, these trees are very hardy.
Some people were just born to be in medicine. They
Some people were just born to be in medicine. They are compassionate, empathetic and love knowing they are making a difference in the life of someone who isnt feeling well. Its difficult to imagine what the world would be like without doctors and nurses to provide medical care. They arent the only ones crucial to quality patient care though. Licensed practical nurses are the unsung heroes of the medical profession. If youve ever spent anytime in a hospital or visited a long term care facility, youve likely seen a LPN in action. This is a great job for anyone who has the inclination to enter the medical profession without the drive to attend school for many years. A practical school of nursing offers classes to those who want to pursue this lucrative career.
Every state has its own set of credentials that have to be met in order to qualify as a LPN. If this is something that you are serious about pursuing you should do some research to determine when classes start. Most technical and trade schools offer this program and some even offer distance practical nursing school. Studying from home at your own pace can be beneficial as long as you are committed to the coursework. You have to set aside time each day to complete your studies if you are serious about succeeding.
Students can expect to be studying for approximately eleven months. They also must complete a field component while they are attending their practical school of nursing classes. This is often the most anticipated part of the course as it allows the students the chance to get some hands-on training.
When the training is done, the student is ready to get their feet wet in the work force. Theyll find that completing their practical school of nursing education opens up many different career opportunities for them. Many LPNs work in doctors offices, while others find working in a private clinic more rewarding. Theyll be under the supervision of a registered nurse and will help them in various ways.
Many kids right out of high school pursue this career because it is so lucrative. Some use their practical school of nursing education as a springboard to a career as a registered nurse or a doctor later in life. Others find it completely rewarding to provide daily care to patients as a LPN.
Even if you graduated from the twelfth grade decades ago, you shouldnt consider yourself too old to become a LPN. This position is really in high demand and if you take a year out of your life to complete your practical nursing schooling, youll be rewarded with an exciting career that you can enjoy until you retire.

Most people are aware of post partum depression, but most
Most people are aware of post partum depression, but most dont know that anxiety can be another problem facing moms who have just given birth. They are very closely related, but they arent exactly the same thing. Some have both at the same time, and that can be a double whammy for any woman. Though most parents have anxiety when taking home a newborn for the first time, post partum anxiety is something a little bit different. I can be missed many times, and that is usually because most people dont know it exists.
Post partum anxiety is a lot like the anxiety problems someone may suffer from any other time in life. Quite often the symptoms are hard to separate from the normal type of stress new parents can have, but after a while it will become obvious to the partner that something is wrong. Post partum anxiety is something that has been rather under-diagnosed in the past, but doctors are much quicker to pick it up these days, and that means quicker help for the moms who are feeling the burden of anxiety and panic.
If you are concerned you or someone you love might be suffering from post partum anxiety, you have to look for the signs. One of the biggest is anxiety attacks. These are often scary, and the person experiencing the attack thinks something horrible is about to happen to them. They may be short of breath, dizzy, and unable to function. The heart rate will go up dramatically, and there may be some confusion. If you research the usual signs of anxiety, they should match what a new mother may be experiencing. Anyone with this should see a doctor as soon as they can to be sure something else is going on.
Once post partum anxiety is diagnosed, the new mom can get help right away. About fifteen percent of all new moms will have a problem with post partum issues, but only under five percent will experience post partum anxiety. That doesnt mean its not real, and not a real possibility, so err on the side of caution and see someone right away. If your spouse is exhibiting signs of anxiety, there may not be much you can do other than getting them into seeing the doctor. Trying to help more with the new baby may help some, but its essential to get medical intervention as soon as possible.

MAKE POSITIVE THINKING A LIFELONG HABIT FOR GOOD HEALTH
We hear so much about eating healthy, exercising regularly and avoiding lifestyle choices like smoking. While this is certainly good advice, we don't hear as much about our patterns of thinking and attitude towards life. However, it's a fact that your psychological outlook can have a dramatic effect on your overall health and longevity. Have you ever noticed that people who perceive the proverbial glass as being half full seem to enjoy life more than their neighbor who sees it consistently half empty?
The power of positive thinking cannot be underrated. Remember Eeyore, the famously depressed and negative-thinking character in the Winnie the Pooh stories? Poor Eeyore always saw the worst case of any situation. When faced with the possibility of a negative outcome, Eeyore would immediately embrace that negative outcome as the only possible result.
If you instead embrace positive thinking and a good result, you'll be surprised to find how often that becomes the case. It has been argued in medical circles that up to 90% of disease has psychological origins. A famous medical study in the 1940s found that women who were depressed were much more likely to be diagnosed with cancer at some point. This is food for thought for all of us.
People who actively practice positive thinking are far less likely to become ill and are generally happier than those who make it their habit to find and cultivate the bad news in any situation.
Next time you feel as though you've caught a chill and are headed for a bad cold, try this positive thinking exercise. First, assess your facts. You were out in the cold and got damp and chilled. Sneezes ensued. OK, but it doesn't necessarily follow that you're doomed to a week of blowing your nose and feeling miserable. What can you do to ward off the bad effects of your chill? You can get warm and cozy, take a big dose of vitamin C and settle back with a cup of herbal tea and a good book. Don't even think about coming down with the inevitable cold. Take care of yourself, stay warm and mentally give that cold the brushoff. You'll be astonished to find how effective a remedy positive thinking is.
Positive thinking habits assume the best, not the worst. Let's say you're interviewing for a new job. Don't be like Eeyore. Your negative attitude will show. The prospective employer will see your lack of confidence and your no-can-do posture as a negative communication. How will such a person fare when faced with a challenging deadline or major decision? Eeyore won't get the job.
Forming the habit of thinking positively is one of the best actions you can take to improve your overall health. Your mind is a powerful ingredient in the recipe for good health!
Working as a portrait artist, I run into a strange
Working as a portrait artist, I run into a strange cross section of people. I used to make my living doing portrait sketches for next to nothing on street corners. With a little bit of showmanship, you can make a fair bit of money, but it is still a great way to feel underappreciated. Each portrait sketch goes for only a couple dollars, and no one seems to appreciate that, however simple and cute, they are still getting an original work of art done by a university educated artist. It is sad when you think about how portrait sketching used to be regarded. Portrait people were some of the most valued artists in Europe at one time. Every king, in fact, had a portrait artist or two in his court. These artists would be paid extremely well and treated like honored guests, provided they could create works that flattered their patrons. Times really have changed!
Nonetheless, it is not going too far to say that the portrait sketch is, slowly but surely, coming back into its own. You see, realism is running out of steam. When the portrait sketch first became popular, it was because there was no other way to record a visual image. The rich and famous would go to sit for a portrait, subjecting themselves to hours of sitting still so that an artist could record their image for all time. These personal portraits would be treasured works of art, passed down from father to son or mother to daughter for generations.
Then photography came along and changed things. Suddenly, you could get something that looked much more realistic than a portrait sketch. Since then, photographic portraits have been the standard. After a few hundred years, however, people are starting to get restless. They are longing for another way to keep an image, something that has more of an artistic touch. Although few people sit for portrait sketches, the numbers are growing. There are even artists who will draw out a sketch portrait for you from a photograph, sparing you the inconvenience of having to sit still in a studio for so long. People are starting to realize that there are things that a good painter or sketch artist can do that a photographer can't. Getting a truly personal impression of someone down on paper is still best done with pencils and brushes. And that is where people like me come in!

The second busiest cruise port in the world is situated
The second busiest cruise port in the world is situated in Brevard County, Florida at Port Canaveral. It is also a major cargo port and extremely important to the local economy. The deep water port handles bulk cargo containers and receives all kinds of shipments, from cars to lumber. It's also a major center for the exporting of bulk citrus fruit, made possible because of the port's large refrigerated warehouse.
Commercial shipping began in 1955 and cruise liners have used the docks from 1964. Some of the most well known cruise companies' liners pass through Port Canaveral, including Disney, Royal Caribbean International, Carnival and the Norwegian Cruise Line. The dock has six cruise terminals and the port is also home to the SunCruz Casinos and Sterling Casinos casino ships. The port has a good working relationship with NASA at the nearby John F.Kennedy Space Center. The port allows rocket boosters to pass through and the external tanks from the Space Shuttle are also brought through for each shuttle mission.
There are lots of plans for the future to expand Port Canaveral even further, including the construction of another cruise terminal. The cruise industry is going through a boom time and the port wants extra capacity. The port's channel will be widened and a fuel tank depot is to be constructed with a pipeline link to Orlando International Airport.
From 1983 until 2005, the SeaFest Annual Seafood festival was a highlight of the area's social calendar. It featured live music and gave local artists an opportunity to show their work. Seafood took center stage of course and the last festival included a chowder cook off competition. In 2006, the festival was re-named SpringFest and moved to the Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Florida.
There are many cruises to choose from with different time scales and destinations. Three, four and seven day cruises go to the Eastern Caribbean, the Bahamas and the Mexican Gulf. Two casino ships go out to sea from Port Canaveral for five or six hour journeys and passengers enjoy casino games, slot machines and live entertainment. There are buffet meals and a nightclub too.
The port area contains three public parks with various amenities, including a beach, camp sites, fishing pier and boat launch ramps. Fishing enthusiasts can get supplies at the tackle and bait shop and there is a great view of Port Canaveral from the observation towers. Visitors get the chance to see local wildlife, including manatees, turtles, right whales and various species of birds.

Road trips are a little less fun if you have
Road trips are a little less fun if you have a bunch of children along for the ride. Its often the only affordable mode of travel though, and for a parent who has to not only pay attention to the road, but keep the kids occupied, it can be a challenge. There is a great little device that can keep the children entertained for hours on end. Its a portable DVD player and youll find its charm reaches well beyond the affordable price.
If youve attended a kids movie at the theater lately you likely noticed how many seats were filled. Flicks for kids are really popular and there are numerous titles to choose from. Its really too expensive to try and take your child or children to every movie out there so most parents opt to spend some of their family entertainment budget on DVDs. This is a great way to be able to share the movies with the kids and also keep them so they can be watched again and again. The same movies that you watch in your DVD player at home can be viewed on a portable DVD player.
The price range for these small entertainment treasures vary depending on the brand name and the quality. If you are using it primarily in your vehicle its probably a good idea to buy one on the lower end of the price scale. A portable DVD player can take some banging and dropping but as with any type of electronics it will eventually decide not to work. Some parents have found it best to purchase one for each child to hold on their laps because this saves an argument about which movie to watch first. Headphones can be bought for just a few dollars which keeps everyones movie to themselves and also avoids extra noise for the driver.
Cars or vans arent the only place they can be used though. Many families pack them along when traveling by air too. Not all airlines offer in flight entertainment anymore and if you are scheduled for a long flight, a portable DVD player can actually be used by everyone in the family. Just bring along a couple of different movies so everyone can have a choice. Remember that it is an electronic device and that means youll have to keep it turned off during take-off and landing.
Using it at home is certainly fine too. If you are planning on doing this often invest in an AC adapter for it. Using batteries for a portable DVD player is obviously necessary when you are out and about, but at home save money by plugging it into an electrical outlet. In a pinch you can also hook it up to your television set and use it as you would any traditional DVD player. The quality might not be as good, but youll likely still enjoy the movie.

What's your take on political campaign strategies?
Only in America! For better or worse, American political campaigns for President start ramping up two years before the election takes place. Now you'd think that if one year were spent seeking the most qualified candidates to be found in the entire country, another year would be more than sufficient for the candidates to sort out and implement their political campaign strategies.
However, that's not how it works. Beginning two years prior to the actual voting date, well-heeled people already prominent in political circles begin by announcing their candidacy. Following the announcement, rounds of fund-raising parties are held to build up the coffers of the candidates, who essentially nominated themselves. Independents and unknown people, while potentially superbly qualified, don't stand a chance. Why? No one will give them money. "Who's he?"
Political campaign strategies seem to first rely on name and face recognition. This seems to fly in the face of our basic American values. When we apply for a job, the employer generally doesn't know or recognize us. The employer is looking for the best qualified person for the position, not a household name. So why doesn't this fairness and diligence extend to the highest office in America?
So, on to step two. When the candidates have gathered sufficient funds to launch their campaigns, they seem to put a metaphorical wet finger up to the breeze to gauge the American sentiment. What are the big issues? What does the public really get riled up about? Last year, Iraq was large in the mind of the public, as was senior medical care. The Katrina disaster, so representative of the crumbling infrastructure, was already fading as a kitchen table topic. So the candidates went with what resonated with the public and formulated their initial political campaign strategies.
In the previous Presidential election, negative political campaign strategies became a big no-no with the public. So this season's political campaign strategies avoid such shenanigans like the plague. Discontented voters won't vote for the person with negativity.
However unfortunate, it does seem that political campaign strategies are formulated to please the greatest number of voters. Truth and conviction often take a back seat to expediency.
To be fair, some candidates do stand on truth and their solid convictions, much to their detriment. Political campaign strategies live and die on the turn of a phrase or the number of television ads placed. Somehow, this doesn't seem to be the best approach to elect a President worth his or her salt.
This year, Iraq has begun to fade from the public's mind for lack of television exposure. Now, we hear a more generalized call for change, which forms a loosely defined catch-all box for the current political campaign strategies. What's an ordinary voter to think?
When I was going through high school, PDA's were just
When I was going through high school, PDA's were just starting to come out. No one was calling them pocket pcs at that point, but that was basically what they were. At the time, it seemed like a pointless novelty. A pocket pc was no more convenient than a pocket organizer, and it had many disadvantages. It was expensive, breakable, and less intuitive than using a personal organizer with paper. On top of that, the few kids who were foolish enough to invest in a personal digital organizer were often the targets of theft.
When I compare now to then, it is like night and day. Almost everyone and their mother has a Bluetooth pocket pc. The funny thing is that, the younger people are, the more likely they are to have electronic organizers. It doesn't make a lot of sense, if you think about it. After all, how much information does your average school kid really have to keep track of? Not that much, and yet all of them are spending upwards of $200 for a pocket pc cum cell phone cum portable game station.
On second thought, it looks like things have really not changed all that much. Now, as then, the pocket pc is more of a status symbol than a useful tool for organizing data. A lot of tech geeks rightly point out that digital technology allows us to more efficiently store and organize information, but they miss the fact that most of us do not have very much information to store and organize. Keeping track of a few dates and appointments, or even organizing files and planning projects, works perfectly well on paper. With paper, you have a more visceral, hands on approach. It can be taken anywhere, modified however you want, and easily and cheaply replaced.
Don't get me wrong computers do have their uses. Even the pocket pc is indispensable for some people. If you are the type of character who has to have every moment of his life planned out to the minute, a pocket pc is definitely the right choice for you. Still, I believe that if it is not broken, there is no reason to fix it. People have been getting by with paper and pen for quite a while now, and there is no reason to change. You can keep your shiny new pocket digital organizer. I'll take my battered old notebook any day.

PLATFORM SHOES, THE TRENDY AND COMFORTABLE FOOTWEAR
Women love shoes and most of us believe there's no such thing as too many shoes. True, they protect your feet from sharp objects and dirt, but shoes go beyond mere function. Shoes can be regarded as fashion accessories as well. What's a great outfit without great shoes?
If shoes have a down side, it's lack of comfort. Women traditionally squeeze their feet into the most painful of shoes for the sake of looking good. Well! Believe it or not, there is a genre of shoes that not only make your legs look great, but complement almost any outfit and - ta-da - are comfortable. This paragon of shoe virtues is the platform shoe.
Platform shoes first showed up as a fashion statement in the mid-1970s. They became instant hits, at first because they were an absolutely cool look, previously unknown in fashionisto memory. The shoes were featured in every top fashion magazine and found everywhere, from Paris runways to the very smallest rural town shoe shop. A shoe shop that did not carry platform shoes was a shoe shop destined for failure.
Now, most avant garde shoe styles don't last long - here today, out next season, or at least by next year. Platform shoes were the rage for several years before shoe designers tired of them, longing for a change in styling. How did the love of platforms last so long?
The reason is simple: platform shoes are unbelievably comfortable. You can literally walk in comfort for miles in such a shoe, with nary a peep of a complaint from your tootsies. The soles have a delicately but sturdily etched pattern with the traction of a snow tire. With your foot and stockings several inches above a rainy street, you sprint along through puddles with dry feet. No slipping or squishing.
The last of the platform shoe curves gently upward, from 2-3 inches above ground at the toe, to several inches at the heel. Therefore, the shoe, rather than your foot, does most of the work in creating the long-legged look so attractive to the opposite sex. Rubbery one-piece plastic was a typical heel material, so these shoes last for years without repair.
The uppers are made of every material and style found in conventional shoes. Styling runs the gamut, from beachwear sandals to a night at the theatre. You can wear them with jeans or with a fabulous beaded designer dress. Unlike any other genre of shoes, platform shoes are universally adaptable to any fashion requirement.
Like any classic, platform shoes are, thankfully, currently enjoying a resurgence of popularity with today's women. If you weren't around in the 70s, you simply must try a pair. You'll soon own dozens of pairs!
How a persuasive speech topic wins adherents
You find yourself called upon to give a speech. What's the purpose of any speech? In a word, persuasion. You must convince your audience of your point of view. Whether you're lauding the candidate for mayor or talking about global warming, you need to give your listeners convincing evidence that your position on the subject is one they should adopt.
The successful persuasive speech topic requires knowledge of rhetoric, style, logic and vocabulary. Yes, it's a tall order, even for the most accomplished speaker. However, a close examination of each element gives you the power to deliver a winning persuasive speech topic in words that make the angels cry. Let's look at some ways you can use each of these elements to your advantage.
Rhetoric involves the way in which you weave your words. For example, if your topic is global warming, your use of rhetoric can evoke emotional responses which quickly bring your listeners into your camp. You can awaken outrage, sympathy or alarm with the simple device of rhetoric. Consider the following two statements. "Changes in our world climate are causing increasing incidents of hurricanes and droughts." Compare this with "The deaths of more than 250,000 human beings in the Asian tsunami tragedy of 2004, as well as massive starvation in African nations, due to drought, can be laid at the door of global warming." Whereas the first statement is brief and unemotional, the second captures a response from the heart. The persuasive speech topic must employ sophisticated rhetoric for success.
Your style also matters. The most persuasive speech topic is only as winning as the style you use to deliver your message. Speak to your audience. Your style will be different when speaking to a group of seniors than to teenagers.
Logic is an important component of any thoroughly persuasive speech topic. Your arguments in favor of a certain conclusion must stand up to reasonable, logical analysis. In our scenario of the persuasive speech topic on global warming, you need to convey facts which support the conclusions. It's a fact that the polar ice caps are melting. The volume of water thereby released into the oceans must, by the laws of physics, cause the shorelines to shrink. Small islands may disappear. This logic is irrefutable. Bringing such facts to the attention of your audience is absolutely necessary to the successful persuasive speech topic.
Good vocabulary is essential to persuading your audience. Consider the following statements. " Global warming should concern all of us." Compare this with "Global warming is a dire threat, one with significant consequences we will all live to endure." This element of your speech is a combination of rhetoric and vocabulary. The greater your repertoire and command of the language, the more accurately you can describe and persuade.
When you deliver your speech, your goal is to win people over to your point of view. Effective persuasion requires that you thoroughly address these essential elements of speaking. To your successful speech!
Many of us have fond memories of Easter Sundays from
Many of us have fond memories of Easter Sundays from our childhoods. One thing that commonly stands out in memory is the basket filled with goodies. This tradition has seen few changes but one recent change has many parents ordering specialty products for their kids. Personalized Easter baskets are gaining popularity among families for good reason. These items offer great style, durability and memorable keepsakes for your little ones.
There are plenty of choices when it comes to personalized Easter baskets and it may be a good idea to do a little shopping before making an investment. This product is not something that you are going to use once and pack away in the attic. A personalized Easter basket will be used for many years.
In order to assure that you will get the mileage out of the item that you choose it is important to choose personalized Easter baskets that are made from quality materials. It may be tempting to buy something that is priced low but you probably already know that the adage you get what you pay for stands true for personalized Easter baskets as it does with just about everything else.
You also want to consider the size of the basket as well. While many parents are opting for large, over-the-top personalized Easter baskets, this choice may not be right for many families. This is especially true for those who like the idea of keeping this item for years and years to come. The larger baskets are great but you can find a traditionally-sized item that will stand the test of time.
The ideal personalized Easter basket should be about twelve inches in diameter and about seven inches deep. This isnt huge but it is a sizeable item that is practical and one that can be filled easily. Most Easter baskets from years gone by were traditionally around this proportion and that makes these items the perfect choice for many families.
Color is very important as well. Most personalized Easter baskets come in an array of color choices. Most of the colors are pastel but you can find the occasional item that offers bright, primary colors as well. You will find that the best way to choose a color is to simply ask your child what he or she likes.
Finally, you want to consider how the personalized Easter basket will be embroidered. Do you want the childs full name or a nickname on the item? Remember, the more letters, the more the item will cost but when it comes to a keepsake like this, it really doesnt matter.

Perennial gardening for year-round drama
Are you one of those gardeners who loves planting beds of annuals each year for that burst of color, but shies away from the perennials? You're not alone. Many enthusiastic gardeners believe perennial gardening is only for the experts, requiring too much maintenance, yields a short season of bloom and looks purely unattractive in winter. All of these reasons to discount perennial gardening are false! Let's take a look at how you can use perennials to create dramatic year-round effects that last many years, with far less effort than your annuals.
Perennial gardening does require a bit more planning, but careful choices, planted in the right location can add masses of color that put those annuals to shame!
Let's say you have a spot where you always plant those cheery marigolds to brighten the summer pathway to your front entry. Yes, it looks great in summer, but what about the other three seasons? Try lining the pathway with an evergreen spring bloomer to add interest and color to the pathway while waiting for those marigolds? Winter crocuses can be planted in the same bed. By the time their glory is spent, your marigolds will fill out and cover the dormant bulbs.
Perennial gardening allows for drifts of mixed perennials with overlapping bloom times, giving you a spectacular all-summer display. There are perennial varieties with long blooming seasons. Plant large drifts of such varieties interspersed with short bloomers for an ever-changing display of color.
Many perennials naturalize, spreading in clumps over a period of years. Creeping phlox spreads to form a thick, lush carpet of springtime color in the woodland garden. Other perennials, like agapanthas and daylilies need division every few years. For this effort, you gain new plants at no additional expense.
Perennial gardening offers colorful possibilities for every season. Choose a planting of Heavenly Bamboo for a fiery accent to the fall garden. Try Forsythia for a luminous yellow bush that lights up the late winter landscape. Rock cottonwood is an evergreen that looks handsome in all seasons, adding a bright note to your perennial landscaping with its bright red winter berries. A bed of cyclamens offer white, pink and magenta blooms during the dreariest winter days. Ornamental grasses, strategically placed amongst summer blooming plants can show their stuff to dramatic advantage in the winter months.
If you've hesitated with perennial gardening plans, visit your nursery or go online. Your local nursery worker can advise you of which perennials do well in your area and specific garden conditions. Online, you'll find plenty of articles full of particulars on the many virtues of perennial gardening to get you started. You'll soon wonder how you managed to restrain yourself to those lovely but fleeting annuals!

Pellet Stove Fireplace
Last winter as I was griping about my heating bill, I saw an advertisement on television for a pellet stove fireplace. I had never heard of these before, and I was quite intrigued by the idea. These stoves use small pellets to heat your home, and apparently do so very effectively. If I were to believe the ads, it would seem that one medium-sized pellet stove would heat my entire apartment for under $500 a season. Considering that I spend almost that much a month on natural gas, it sure seemed like a good idea.
I never got a pellet stove fireplace, and that is because I am a renter. I am not sure how my landlord would have felt about it, but I did not even bother to ask her. I was not going to spend a lot of money on a pellet stove fireplace only to move out a few months later. I know that I could have taken the stove with me, but it may not have been something I wanted to use in a new place. All I know is that I wish she would have had the idea to buy a pellet stove fireplace so that are natural gas bill would be cut down to almost nothing. I would have no problem buying the pellets when I needed them if it saved me that much money on my winter heating bill.
For the most part, a pellet stove fireplace can be installed in almost any home. They say that they do not need any ventilation, but I cannot imagine that this is the truth. Because the pellets are burned within a pellet stove fireplace, you can assume that there will be some sort of exhaust needed. It should be simple enough to install however, as a contractor can probably do this for you rather cheaply. From what I have heard, you can find out if you need to buy one, two, or three different stoves to heat your home by figuring out your square footage. I have a two-bedroom apartment, and it would seem that I would only need one pellet fireplace to heat the entire place completely.
If you want to get a pellet stove fireplace, make sure you look into the details before you buy. If you are a renter, you will need to discuss this with your landlord. Also remember that you will have to be able to buy the pellets in order to heat your home. In some cases, some communities have run out of pellets rather quickly. I remember last year when I first heard about the pellet stove fireplace that there was a report on the news that all local suppliers were out. Perhaps they were so popular that the supply did not keep up with the demand.
Paying bills online keeps your books and credit rating on
Paying bills online keeps your books and credit rating on track
If you're still writing a check, buying a stamp and sending your bill payments off through snail mail, you might want to give some consideration to paying your bills online. There are many good reasons that support a change to your old ways.
First of all, many banks now charge fees for writing too many checks in a month. Then, the cost of postage for a month's worth of bills can amount to a night out for the kids at the fast food drive-through. Another problem, although it happens infrequently, is that snail mail may be delayed or even lost. Then your creditor make tack on a hefty late fee if your payment doesn't arrive in time. Worse still, a credit card company may raise your borrowing rate if the payment is lost. Late payments and increased borrowing rates can damage your credit rating as well.
Virtually all banks offer online bill paying as a service to their customers. When you pay bills online, you have a record of your transaction and your payment is transmitted almost instantly. For added convenience, you can schedule bill payments automatically on a certain date, either as a one-time payment or on the same date each month.
Another way to pay bills online is through Paypal. Once you've set up your account, you can send money to just about any person or company in the U.S. The money is electronically transferred in minutes. This is particularly useful when you want to send money to a friend or family member who's stranded in a distant location.
You need not worry that your financial information may fall into the wrong hands. When you pay bills online, you are transferred to a secure server before you ever disclose private information or financial data. You'll know you're on a secure server by looking at the url name in your browser window. It will read, https://www.bankname.com. The letter s, following the http means it is a secure server. Your information is encrypted and cannot be accessed by anyone else.
You can see the advantages to paying bills online. You avoid having to pay late fees or have your rate increased, thus maintaining a good credit score, or improving a less than perfect credit rating. You also save the hassles and expense of postage or mail delivery problems. Once you start paying bills online, you'll see this payment method is quick, safe and convenient. There's simply no reason not to change from your old ways.

When I was growing up watching television was very different
When I was growing up watching television was very different than it is now. We lived out in the country and had an antenna on the roof to get reception. We were able to get the three network stations as well as one local station. There were family shows on during prime time and after the late news most of the stations went off the air. We enjoyed watching television; however there was not the variety of things to watch like there is today.
My family liked playing board games as well as card games. More often than not we listened to music and played a parker brothers game. We had quite an assortment of board games. My sister and I loved to play the parker brothers game of monopoly. Because the game takes a while to play we often left the board sitting out on the formal dining room table. We would set everything up and then play for several evenings in a row. My mother would get upset that there were all the game pieces and monopoly money laying around.
My sister and I are much older now. We have raised our own families and try to spend as much time together as we can. Our recreation time now is spent in the area casinos. One of our favorite slot machines to play is monopoly. We had to laugh the first time we was it. Many of the parker brothers games have been turned into slot games. I think there is a great deal of people in our generation who enjoyed playing the various board games as children. The fun part with playing at the casino is that you have the chance to win real money if the game is going your way.
My children like to play games also. This is something that we encouraged them to do as children. Playing games teaches children many things such as counting, fairness, taking turns and how to win and lose gracefully. It is also interaction time rather than sitting in front of a television set letting someone else entertain you. Now that my children are grown and married they go to each others homes and play board games. I am very pleased that they are staying in touch with each other the same way I stay in touch with my sister. I think that having the time together as children helped us to become good friends. We have talked about getting together with our husbands and playing a game of monopoly.

Being a parent is a huge responsibility. Many of us
Being a parent is a huge responsibility. Many of us jump into the challenge with little knowledge of what's to come. Fortunately things tend to fall into place anyway. The way we care for our little ones comes as natural as combing our hair or riding a bike. And if we get confused along the way, our parents and friends are typically there to offer a lending hand. Hey, that's what they're for, right? But that's not all! Having a child in this new millennium means having extra new-age resources. The Internet provides us with plenty parents kids websites. This allows us to get assistance with an issue immediately.
Like the rest of the planet, I'm sure you're jacked into cyberspace for a good portion of the day. The web is where it's at! And by IT, I mean virtually everything. Once in a while I even refer to parents kids sites to attain useful advice. Hey, raising a child is not all fun and games. They certainly know how to hit you with a curve ball by the time they hit their teen years. This is when you might find it beneficial to take advantage of the parents' forums that discuss teens. There is plenty to be learned from other mothers and fathers, and all the things they've been through. I learned how to deal with my teenager, who was not doing her homework. As advised by a fellow parent, I simply took away her car, computer, and cell phone privleges. After two weeks of suffering with no connection to her buddies, she straightened out rather well. Her grades resumed normalcy in no time. Granted this is a minor issue, but still important when you're a parent. I realized that spanking didn't work!
You're most likely online already. Therefore you may as well check out a few parents kids websites. Maybe you're currently having difficulty with a teenager who's drinking. Or, maybe you suspect that your kid is using drugs. Well you're not alone by any means. There are countless other parents out there just like you, who grapple with the same dilemmas involving their children. Get in the discussion and find out what your next move could be. A little advice can go a long way.

Paper towels
Ive always hated to be wasteful. Despite the fact that I dont like to waste anything, my household goes through more paper towels in a year than imaginable. Im not sure why we use paper towels for everything, but we do. I dont buy napkins. We use paper towels for all of our meals. We use paper towels to do all of our clean. I know that I should get some old T-shirts or rags to use for dusting and cleaning, but paper towels are so much more convenient and accessible. Unfortunately, my toddler is now dependent on paper towels to. If she is eating or drinking, shell ask for a paper towel in case a mess happens to be made. She probably doesnt even know what a napkin is!
I remember being little and testing two brands of paper towels while my sister and I had a babysitter one night. I couldnt tell you the brand names; I just know that we used six rolls of paper towels that evening. The babysitter was so focused on talking on the phone that she never seemed to notice. By the time my parents arrived home, our bedrooms and living room was covered in scattered paper towels. We were testing how much water they could absorb, how strong they were when dry and wet. Of course, once my mother scolded us, she wasnt interested in hearing about how experiences had turned out. She was more interested in scolding the babysitter for not watching us more closely, than hearing about what a wonderful science project we had completely. New rolls of paper towels came out of our allowance that week.
Now that Im an adult, youd think that Id be more practical about it. I know that I shouldnt use paper towels for every single thing. If there is a tiny spill, I cant use a towel. I have to use paper towels. It drives me crazy, but it is just something that Ive always done and breaking that habit doesnt seem to be working for me.
For a few months, I tried to buy generic paper towels. I figured that since I was using them so often, I could at least save some money. Getting a generic brand saved me a few dollars each week. But, before too long, I noticed that they didnt rip apart too easily, often tearing where you didnt want them too. They werent as thick and strong as brand names. I tolerated it for a while. Finally, I grew tired of ripping off a paper towel and finding myself holding several pieces. I gave up buying generic. At least if Im being wasteful, Im wasting the good stuff.
Finding your best value in paper towel brands
There are a couple of reasons you should carefully compare paper towel brands to find the one that gives you best value. If you're environmentally oriented, you know you're saving trees by using the recycled paper towels. The second reason concerns your budget. Paper towels are expensive and they aren't all the same. Next time you're shopping, look for these comparison points, listed right on the label.
First, look at the number of sheets per roll. Some paper towel brands give you more sheets than another brand, but don't go by that alone. Look at the size of each sheet. You may be shocked to discover each sheet is about half the size of a normal paper towel. If you don't check both the number of sheets and the size, you won't know until you get home and open the package. Few of us have the chutzpah to return a roll and demand a refund, although the store would probably oblige you.
Now you look to see if the sheets are single or double layered. Some paper towel brands with a quilted, embossed surface are double layered, while others are not. You can just eyeball the circumference of the paper towel package, compared with another. If one has the same number and size of sheets as another, but one's considerably smaller, the smaller of the paper towel brands is likely to be less absorbent, so you'll end up using two to wipe up a spill, where one sheet of a thicker paper towel would suffice.
Some of the most expensive paper towel brands go overboard on the thickness, claiming it will wipe up a big mess with just one sheet. Although the claim is true, how many big messes do you have in a day? We don't generally reuse a paper towel because most of the time, it's a sticky spot of syrup or a bit of egg white. The purpose is to throw out the germs, not recycle them! So the ultra paper towel brands are probably not a good value. Let the product suit the task.
Your last comparison is the price difference between a single, double or a big pack of six or eight rolls. The price label the grocer places on the shelf gives you a price per-unit comparison, such as 2.1 cents per sheet. You'd think the big eight-pack paper towel brand would be your best value, but that's not necessarily the case.
When you've looked at all the factors, you'll find it's fairly easy to decide which paper towel brands are your best bet. Buy and try. You may get it right the first time. If not, reevaluate on your next trip to the store. When you find a brand that lasts, just keep buying that brand!
Bay County in Florida is the place to go for
Bay County in Florida is the place to go for white beaches and turquoise ocean. One of the most popular tourist areas is Panama City Beach Florida. It's very busy during the summer season with people coming south to catch a bit of sunshine. It's most popular however, during Spring Break when college and high school students come to enjoy the nightlife and the beach lifestyle. A wealth of attractions awaits visitors, including water parks, amusement parks and activities such as bungee jumping.
A lot of construction has taken place in recent years, especially in the luxury home market. This has been done to keep up with demand and also to rejuvenate areas that had been damaged by hurricanes. The tourism economy is doing well, especially the boating companies that organize sightseeing tours and pontoon boat rentals. There are trips to take people to swim with dolphins and to go snorkeling. For a fun way to get around, there are electric cars and moped for hire.
Most young people, who come for a vacation, head for the Club La Vela, said to be the largest nightclub in the United States. The club in Panama City Beach Florida often features in television programs about dance music culture. In addition to the dance floors, there are bars and swimming pools. Dancing areas are split into different genres, consisting of techno, house, rock and hip hop. Nights for under age kids are organized too without any alcohol for sale.
The natural world is on show at Zoo World and Botanical Park. More than 350 animals are resident, some of which are endangered. The park contains 250 different species of trees and plants. The zoo has operated a successful breeding program and several endangered species have been born here. The most popular exhibits include monkeys, alligators, exotic birds, camels, bears, lions, tigers and various kinds of reptiles.
The Gulf World Marine Park is a terrific day out for all the family in Panama City Beach Florida. There is a chance to swim with dolphins and watch sharks being fed.
